Accessing Materials

Requesting Items
Learn how to borrow materials from UO Libraries and beyond by visiting the Requesting Materials from Other Libraries guide. Non-UO visitors with an Oregon Card can borrow most general collection print books and journals. Items from Knight Library or branch locations can be delivered to the Portland Library in 3–5 days.


Collections

Print Materials
The Portland Library houses approximately 28,000 print titles, supporting UO Portland's academic programs and research. The collection includes:

  • 6,000+ books and journals on architecture
  • Over 14,000 items acquired from the former Concordia University, including:
    • 4,000+ children's books
    • 2,000+ fiction titles (classics and popular)
    • Additional materials in education, history, psychology, and sociology
    • General interest subject areas (cooking, gardening, health & wellness, travel, etc.)

Electronic Resources
Access e-books, articles, digital images, and streaming content through over 450 databases. Explore select digital collections, start with curated research guides for your subject, or view the A-Z list of databases

DVDs
The Portland Library offers 700 DVD titles across various genres. Browse DVDs in LibrarySearch. Access additional streaming content via Kanopy and other platforms.

Architectural Drawings
The library maintains a small collection of architectural drawings. For broader access, explore thousands of drawings in Special Collections & University Archives (SCUA). Learn more about requesting materials from SCUA.

Loaner Equipment
Portland campus students, staff and faculty may borrow laptops, chargers, cameras, pen tablets, VR headsets, and more from the loaner equipment collection.

Explore a small collection of puzzles and games available to borrow. These items are available to all community borrowers.
