Artificial Intelligence and the UO Libraries

The University of Oregon Libraries helps students, faculty, and staff develop AI literacy skills so they can engage with Generative AI tools thoughtfully and responsibly. Start with general AI support for initial questions, basic guidance, and referrals, or schedule a specialized consultation with a librarian for more in-depth teaching, learning, or research support. Online Learning and In-Person Workshops

UO Libraries has developed multiple learning opportunities for students to develop foundational AI Literacy skills. Topics covered in our modules and workshops include understanding how AI systems work, using critical thinking and judgement to evaluate AI output, considering the ethical implications of AI use, and making human-centered choices about when and how to engage with emerging technologies.

Our short, online module takes approximately 30 minutes to complete and is a basic introduction to Gen AI for undergraduate students. We also offer an in-person workshop covering the same content as the online module with additional opportunities for conversation and hands-on application.
