General Information

Most of the maps and atlases are housed in public areas and are available any time the library is open. Our more fragile and older maps and atlases require assistance to use.  If you don’t see any library personnel in the Map Collection, ask for assistance at the Data Services/Computer Help Desk or email

Assistance with locating maps is usually available 9 am - 5 pm Monday through Friday except for holidays. Many of our maps are not listed in the online catalog. You browse by call number which groups maps by geographic area. (See Map and Atlas Call Numbers.)

Aerial photographs are not available without prior arrangements. Please use the Aerial Photography Research Service to request aerial photographs.  The service allows campus users to request photographs of an area for viewing in the library and allows remote users to request maps and air photos and view them digitally. We charge a fee for non-Oregon University System patrons to recover our labor costs.
