Maria leads assessment efforts at the UO Libraries with the goal of improving services and experiences, analyzing outcomes and impact, and supporting library leadership to make data-driven decisions and build a culture of assessment. Maria comes to the UO Libraries with several years of assessment and project management experience in large library and archive systems at the federal, state, and local levels. Throughout her work, Maria strives to systematically apply an equity lens to data projects, collaboratively discover innovative solutions, creatively communicate the story of impact, and make working with data less intimidating for others (and possibly even fun). She earned her dual master’s degrees in Library Science and Public Administration at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
