Sherry Buchanan

Sherry Buchanan (she/her) is the Library Coordinator at UO Libraries in Portland.  In this role, she supports affiliates, researchers, and community members, serving as a key link between UO Libraries and the Portland campus.  She oversees daily library operations, manages the service desk, supervises student employees, and facilitates access to resources.  Sherry is part of a community of scholars supporting University of Oregon's mission to help individuals question critically, think logically, reason effectively, communicate clearly, act creatively, and live ethically. 

Sherry holds a Master of Science in Library and Information Science from Syracuse University, an MFA in Creative Writing from Oregon State University, and a BA in English from the University of Oregon.  She has over twenty years of professional experience within four academic libraries, working as an educator in the classroom, answering reference questions, serving as a statewide chat librarian, overseeing journal publishing, administrating websites, coordinating large-scale events, and managing circulation, course reserves, interlibrary loan, and document delivery.  

Sherry's research interests include accessibility, usability, open access, content strategy, universal design, and student-centered data-driven collaborative decision-making and co-creation.
