About the Program
The Personal Librarian program is designed to help students build research skills, become familiar with UO Libraries' services and expertise, and develop confidence as emerging researchers. Through individualized support, students are introduced to resources, services, and people that can support their PURA projects and future academic work.
How the Program Works
Students in the PURA program are paired with a personal librarian who serves as a primary point of contact for library-related questions and research support. Personal librarians help students:
- Navigate library resources and services
- Develop effective research strategies
- Access scholarly literature, data, and specialized collections
- Connect with subject specialists and other library experts
Identify research support opportunities available through UO Libraries, such as library workshops
Research Support Opportunities
In addition to one-on-one support from a personal librarian, PURA students may participate in optional workshops and consultations on topics such as:
- Discipline-specific research methods and resources
- Citation management and research organization
- Data services, statistical support, and data visualization
- Academic publishing
