These funds will directly support the Oregon Digital Newspaper Program (ODNP) and student employment in the UO Libraries.
A major goal of the library's Ducks Give campaign was to help fund digitization of Eugene Weekly.
A weekly print and digital newspaper, EW has been a community mainstay for over 40 years, offering award-winning coverage of arts and culture, news, and local and state politics. Now, the ODNP is working to get the entire publication (from 1982 to the present) digitized and published online, ensuring that students, teachers, historians and community members have free access to decades of local history, preserved for future generations.
“Completing the digital archive of Eugene Weekly is crucial to preserving a significant piece of our local history and culture," said Jody Rolnick, the paper's publisher. "It allows future generations to explore and appreciate the perspectives, stories and events that have shaped our community over the years. This is especially important today, when news businesses (and journalists) are often under threat.”
Beyond the walls of the library, UO’s annual day of giving was a big success for the entire university. Celebrating its tenth year in 2025, the 24-hour campaign raised over $2 million for departments and programs across campus.
Thanks to everyone who gave during Ducks Give!
