Chelsea is the GIS librarian and subject matter liaison for the University of Oregon Department of Geography. They offer workshops and 1 on 1 consultations in GIS, cartography, and design.
Chelsea earned a PhD and MS in Cartography / GIS from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and holds a PhD minor in art. Their undergraduate degrees include Geography (GIS), Anthropology (Archaeology), and Classics. Chelsea’s research interests include the intersection of art, aesthetics and geospatial science, theoretical cartography, transformative geospatial education, experiential graphic design, non-digital mapping modalities, and archaeology.
Chelsea is co-chair of the International Cartographic Association working group Next Generation Cartographers and holds memberships in the American Association of Geographers (AAG), the North American Cartographic Information Society (NACIS), the Cartography and Geographic Information Society (CaGIS) and the American Society for Aesthetics (ASA).
