UO Libraries offers a robust collection of consoles and video games for circulation to UO students and employees from the Allan Price Science Commons and Research Library. Learn more about what’s available and how to access these resources below.

Consoles Available for Checkout

We have a growing selection of consoles and supporting equipment available for checkout. UO students, staff, and Faculty can borrow the following:

Consoles:

  • PlayStation 4
  • PlayStation VR
  • Xbox 360
  • Xbox One

Supporting Equipment:

  • Controllers for PlayStation, Xbox, Wii, and Switch
  • Wii remote accessories
  • Wii balance board

Games Available for Checkout

Our library houses approximately 1,200 video games for various consoles, including:

  • Nintendo: Nintendo 64, GameCube, DS, 3DS, Wii, WiiU, Switch
  • PlayStation: PS2, PS3, PS4, PS5, and PlayStation VR
  • Xbox: Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox Series X
  • Board Games: A growing collection of 40+ titles

Games are located near the Price Science Commons checkout desk and can also be found in the online catalog. Use the following steps to search:

  1. Choose "UO Libraries" from the dropdown menu in the search box.
  2. Enter keywords like "Wii", "Xbox", or "Board Game"
  3. Use filters on the left to narrow results to game materials.

Donate Games:


We welcome donations of older games or titles we don’t currently own, provided they are compatible with our systems and in good condition. To discuss donations, contact Jimmy Murray.

Suggest Games to Purchase:


Help us grow our collection! Submit your recommendations through the Libraries’ Materials Request Form. Select "Games" as the subject area.

The Gaming Center

The Gaming Center, located in Room B018 inside the Allan Price Science Commons & Research Library, supports gaming courses, events, and drop-in gaming. The center is:

  • Free for all UO students and employees.
  • Open during the same hours as the Price Science Commons & Research Library.

How to Book Items Using the Online Catalog


You can book game consoles quickly and easily through the online catalog. Follow these steps:
 

  1. Search for the Console

    • Use the search bar to look up the console by name (e.g., "PlayStation 4").
  2.  Narrow Your Search
Use the filters (facets) on the left side of the search results page:
    • Select Library: Price Science Commons to locate the correct record.
  3. Make a Booking
    • Sign in to your account.
    • Click Request UO Item and select Booking as the request type.
    • Choose a loan period of up to three days, ensuring your booking aligns with library hours.
  4. Set the Correct Loan Period
    1. The booking system uses a 24-hour clock format.
    2. Example:
      • If you want to pick up the item on Tuesday, the 5th, at 9:00 AM, calculate three days ahead (Wednesday, the 6th, to Friday, the 8th).
      • Set the end time to Friday, the 8th, at 15:00 (3:00 PM).
        • Note: Avoid using "3:00" (3:00 AM), as it will cause an error. Need Help?
