There are several spaces in the UO Libraries dedicated to hands-on learning and learning with technology
Visualization Lab
The Visualization Wall is available for UO Students, Faculty, and Staff and features 24 HD displays, creating a 50-million-pixel screen. The room also includes three 85" 4K side screens for displaying multiple devices simultaneously. This space can be reserved for instruction, research, or activities that leverage the high-resolution, large-scale display for data rendering or analysis. DeArmond MakerSpace
The DeArmond Makerspace at the University of Oregon’s Allan Price Science Commons and Research Library is a versatile workshop designed for UO students, faculty, and staff. It provides access to various tools and equipment, such as laser cutters and industrial sewing machines, with some requiring training or prior appointment. First-time users must complete a safety test and waiver to ensure a secure working environment. The space is designed for self-guided projects, with assistance from staff for tool usage and safety guidance, though users are responsible for their own design work. Douglass Room
The Douglass Room, located in the northwest corner of the third floor of Knight Library, is a vibrant space dedicated to music and audio resources. Open during all library hours, it features the Music Help Desk (staffed during peak times), a comprehensive Audio Collection, historic sheet music, and deluxe facsimile editions. Facilities include listening carrels, Creative Musicians' Workstation computers, Audio Production Studios, a reservable seminar classroom, and a comfortable study area. Services range from music research assistance to equipment lending, and research consultations with the Music and Dance Librarian are also available. RAVE Lab
The Reality Augmentation and Virtual Experiences (RAVE) Lab provides access to cutting-edge educational technologies for all UO students, faculty, and staff. In this inclusive space, you can explore immersive 360° virtual environments, from historical landmarks and outer space to ocean reefs and anatomical structures. Whether you're here to learn, play, or create, the RAVE Lab welcomes you to discover its resources and encourages you to request additional content or equipment to enhance your experience. The Gaming Center
Welcome to the Gaming Center, a free and inclusive space located in B018 of the Price Science Commons and Research Library. With four PC gaming stations, two large-screen setups featuring PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles, and plenty of room for tabletop and non-digital games, the Gaming Center offers something for everyone.
