Requesting Materials

We advise researchers to request materials 5 business days before their intended research visit.  We do not pull materials on demand.  You will receive a notification through email when the materials are available for research.  Materials are kept on hold for 1 month. 

Submit your request via the University of Oregon Libraries' online public access catalog:

Perform your search in the UO Libraries catalog LibrarySearch by searching for the collection name (ex: Ken Kesey papers). Limit your search using the drop down menu to select UO Libraries:

Sign in to your account by clicking the large green Sign in button. Information on library accounts for UO and non-UO researchers can be found on our registration page.

If you are a UO-affiliated user, click the top option and sign in with your Duck ID credentials.

If you are a non-UO registered user (includes Oregon Card), click the registered guest borrowers option, and sign in with your Library ID credentials.

If you have successfully logged in, you will see your name in the upper right-hand corner of the screen: 

You have now signed in to LibrarySearch. Find the item of interest in the list of results and click on the title.

It if is a book, click on the Request UO item link under request options.

If it is a manuscript collection, the Request UO Item link will be beside the box number. If you need assistance identifying specific boxes, the catalog record contains "Connect to the online finding aid for this collection." This will open up the finding aid for this collection from a website called Archives West.  The finding aid lists the contents of each box. You must request each box individually.

 

You will now see Details of title you requested. In the comment field, please indicate your intended research visit date(s). It is not necessary to complete the "not needed after" section. Complete your request by clicking the Request button. You will receive a notification through email when the materials are available for research.
