Audio & Video Room (Douglass Room)

Location

The Audio & Video Room is located on the third floor of Knight Library (northwest corner)

Food and drink are not permitted in this room, to avoid potential damage to sensitive audiovisual equipment and MIDI keyboards.

Services

  • We are available to retrieve DVDs, Laserdiscs, audio recordings and materials on reserve in the Audio & Video Room nearly most hours that Knight Library is open. Staff in the Access Services Department perform services and maintain equipment and collections in the room.
  • When room is closed (early morning and very late evening) staff at the Knight Checkout & Reserves Desk may retrieve materials.
  • Video viewing stations and audio listening carrels - staff are happy to assist users as needed
  • Music reference and research assistance available, Monday through Friday, as staffing permits.

  • 3 Creative Musicians' Workstations
  • Small group video viewing / audio listening room (2-8 people)

Borrowing Policy for Audio & Video Materials

  • Materials on reserve in Audio & Video Room:
    • All borrowers: Loan periods are 90 minutes, 4 hours, 6 hours or 24 hours.
  • Videos (if not on reserve)
    • UO faculty, staff and students: 6 days; but with automatic renewals you may keep the material for up to 12 days (unless recalled by another borrower). Fines: $2/day.
    • UO Alumni Association Members: 6 days, but with an automatic renewal, you may keep the item for a total of 12 days (unless recalled by another borrower). Fines: $2/day.
    • Oregon Card holders: 4-hour checkout; library use only
  • Audio recordings (if not on reserve)
    • UO faculty, staff and students: 6 days; but with automatic renewals you may keep the material for up to 24 days (unless recalled by another borrower). Fines: $2/day.
    • UO Alumni Association Members: 6 days, but with an automatic renewal, you may keep the item for a total of 24 days (unless recalled by another borrower). Fines: $2/day.
    • Oregon Card borrowers: 6-day loan, plus one renewal. Fines: $2/day.
  • Library-use only materials
    • Some materials must must remain in the Audio & Video Room at all times

Placing materials on reserve

  • Instructors may place these items on course reserve (with a loan period of 90 minutes, 4 hours, 6 hours, or 24 hours) to make them available in the library for the term.
