Instruction Program's Purpose Statement
Mission
We design and deliver learning experiences to integrate information and other literacies into the curriculum. These practices support the success of our increasingly diverse student body, the UO community, and broader public.
Vision
As library educators, we are committed to teaching in ways that are inclusive, engaged, and research informed. We are a teaching community that cares for each other’s growth. We leverage our partnerships on campus to be more effective.
Values
We promote respect for the scholarly process and the responsible, critical use of information, rooted in our professional standards. We value evidence-based change, driven by curiosity, research, and willingness to experiment to develop our teaching and learning.
Information and Related Literacies
At UO Libraries we define Information Literacy (IL) as:
A set of practices that empowers people to critically, effectively, and ethically use and create information to engage with the world personally, professionally, and civically in support of educational goals and to foster continuous learning.
