Library Communications and Marketing

Library Communications and Marketing

Communications and Marketing promotes the educational mission of the libraries and its relationship with the academic community through original design, photography, exhibit design, writing and social media outreach.

Library News

The library's home page and linked News Page provide up-to-date information on all aspects of library operations affecting our users. Visit the News page for announcements about events, services, and resources designed to facilitate academic research and instruction.

Library Publications

The library publishes Building Knowledge twice yearly to inform our friends and users about collections, acquisitions, and facility and service improvements made as the result of gifts and other forms of support. Library Lowdown is an online newsletter designed especially for University of Oregon students. News You Can Use, the library's faculty online newsletter, covers library developments of direct interest to UO faculty members. Links to these publications are available here.

Social Media

The library communicates with faculty, staff and students through social media sites including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Stock Photography

Communications and Marketing manages the UO Stock Photos collection which features up to date photographs of campus scenes, buildings and happenings.  To browse the collection or order an image, visit the UO Stock Photograph collection.

Staff and Faculty Headshots

Communications and Marketing in the Knight Library will be taking portraits of UO employees on Nov 18 and 19 from 9-4.  Faculty and staff wishing to have their headshot taken should meet our staff photographer in front of the library.   Headshots will be canceled in case of rain or inclement weather.

If your department needs photos for its website, newsletters, posters, and PR, or to share with other institutions, this is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for. For just 10 minutes of your time, you’ll be able to get up-to-date photos to replace those dated ones your department has been living with for months or years or longer!

The fee will be $20 per person and you will receive all the photographs. We will also place each of the images in the central UO photo database at Design and Editing Services, conveniently available for your future use. Your department will pay for the photography fee via its departmental index. If your department is interested in booking six or more people consecutively for a one-hour block (or more), please contact me directly to discuss billing at a reduced per-person rate.

Exhibits

The exhibits program at the University of Oregon Libraries is a valuable means of promoting the educational mission of the libraries and its relationship with the academic community. The goals of the exhibit program are to highlight the strengths and diversity of the library's collections, to promote library programs and campus events, to acknowledge gifts and to encourage giving, and to celebrate library and university milestones and accomplishments.

Exhibit Services provide assistance in designing, producing, and installing exhibits. For specific questions regarding library exhibit space or to make an exhibit request, contact Mandi Garcia (Exhibits Manager) or Cristian Boboia (Exhibits Technician). For more information, visit the Libraries’ Exhibits Policy.

Community Relations

The library sponsors numerous events and activities of interest to the university community and the general public. Visit the library's calendar of events for more information
