Danielle Mericle is the Curator of Visual Materials at Special Collections & University Archives at the University of Oregon Libraries. She is responsible for the preservation, development, and long-term management of visual collections, including large photographic holdings significant to the history of the Pacific Northwest, as well as an extensive archive of 20th century children’s literature illustrations. She has curated numerous exhibitions and led multiple grant initiatives in partnership with peer institutions. Successful applications have yielded grants from the NEH, IMLS, and NHPRC. Prior to joining the University of Oregon, Mericle worked at Cornell University Library as the Director of the Digital Consulting & Production Services, and at New York Public Library as Digital Photographer. She has conducted numerous workshops in digital production, preservation, and workflow management; and has presented internationally and nationally on various digital scholarship initiatives. She also teaches an annual upper-level class in the University of Oregon’s art department on the intersections of art and archives. She holds an MFA in Photography from Syracuse University and a BFA from University of Georgia.
