Open Spaces

Room with computersThe Price Science Commons was designed with a variety of open spaces for study and group work.

Computers

There are groups of computers in three discrete areas of the library: a large computer lab at the far east side, near the service desk; pairs of computers along the west courtyard edge; and individual computers in adjoining carrels in the northwest corner near the classrooms.  Generally the lab is often active and noisy, and the area to the west of the courtyard is more likely to be quiet.

Room B018 is the designated quiet area but is partially in use as an overflow space in 2022-23.  Users who need a quiet place to work can reserve one of the group study or departmental rooms for up to two hours, up to four times per week.

Open Seating

We have tables with rolling chairs; booths; benches; and cafe tables, as well as a small amount of exterior seating on both levels.  There are dozens of whiteboards throughout the library to facilitate work.

Group Study Rooms

We have six reservable group study rooms. The Price Science Commons & Research Library Glass Study Rooms can be reserved and while they are available for walk-in use when not reserved, another user can make a reservation on the spot, so it's best to use the reservation system.
