Print, Scan, or Copy

All patrons must have money in a Duck Bucks account to print, scan, or copy at the UO Libraries. Non-UO patrons may purchase a generic Duck Bucks card with a unique account number. The empty card costs $1. These cards can be bought from the Duck Bucks machine in the Checkout/Information lobby in the Knight Library or from the UO Card Office (ground floor of the Erb Memorial Union).  The magnetic stripe on the UO Libraries Oregon Card also works with the Duck Bucks debit program.

Print Transparencies

We do not have transparencies available for printing.  Users may not bring their own to print on, as they can damage print drums if the wrong type for the printer is used.

Print from Microfilm and Microfiche

In the Microforms area of Knight Library users will find equipment for scanning and printing content on microfilm and microfiche.  Information on using these scanners can be found on our page on Microforms Services.

Scan

You will find book scanners in the Knight Library, Design Library, Portland Library, Price Science Commons, and Law Library. These scanners offer scanning in a variety of formats, including book, single page, and cropped. They're capable of color, gray scale, or black-and-white scans in a variety of file formats, including JPEG, PDF, and TIFF. After scanning is complete, you can save the files directly to a USB drive or send them as an e-mail attachment (25 MB email limit).
Some of the library's academic workstations also have no-cost scanning using directly connected flatbed scanners.

Copy

The color printers are multi-function printers (MFPs) and can be used to make black and white or color photocopies as well.  Duck Bucks are required for all photocopy services.

Photocopying for Patrons with Disabilities

Library staff will photocopy materials for patrons with disabilities. You may ask staff at any service desk for assistance; you must provide cash or Duck Bucks for the cost of the copies. If you have more copying than can be done immediately, you may leave your Duck Bucks card with the staff and they will arrange for it to be done within 24 hours.

Fax Machine

The libraries do not have a Fax Machine available for use. The UO Ticket Office provides a Fax Service.

Copyright Compliance

The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Patrons are responsible for their own copyright compliance and are liable for any infringement resulting from copying, laser printing, or scanning.
