Oregon Poetry Association Annual Conference
Celebrating the transfer of the Oregon Poetry Collection to Knight Library
Friday, September 30, 2016, 2-4 p.m., Knight Library Browsing Room
As part of the Oregon Poetry Association's 2016 Annual Conference, the public is invited to a special celebration welcoming the Oregon Poetry Collection to its new home at the UO Libraries.
In 2007, the Oregon State Library and the Oregon Poetry Association joined together to develop the Oregon Poetry Collection. Publications in this special collection are written by Oregon poets, past and present, or deal substantially with Oregon subject matter. Its purpose is to provide a single, increasingly comprehensive collection of works by Oregon poets and to make these works accessible to all Oregonians.
Except for one grant-funded purchase, all the books in the Oregon Poetry Collection have been donated. Oregon poets, publishers and aficionados of Oregon poetry are encouraged to donate two copies of each title, one for circulation and one for permanent preservation. Today, the collection numbers in excess of 1,700 unique items.
Celebrating the transfer of the collection from the State Library in Salem to Knight Libray on the UO campus, the event will include speakers and readers from both the Oregon Poetry Association and the Oregon community.
Co-sponsored by the Oregon Poetry Association, the UO Libraries, and the College of Arts and Sciences.
This event is free and open to the public. Accommodations for people with disabilities will be provided if requested in advance by calling 541-346-3056, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
