Welcome to the University of Oregon (UO) Libraries
Special Collections and University Archives (SCUA)
What is changing?
In January 2018, SCUA began using the UO Libraries’ online integrated library system to register our patrons and to request materials.
If you are AFFILIATED WITH the UO, you already have a library registration. However, when you visit our Reading Room, SCUA staff will need to verify your identity, which will require that you present a valid government-issued ID such as driver’s license, state identification card, or passport, even if you have registered with us previously. Your university ID does not satisfy this security requirement. You will need to present your government-issued ID only once per year. Please note that we do not enter or retain ID numbers in our database; they are for verification only.
If you are NOT AFFILIATED WITH the UO, you will need to register. You may register in person or you may register remotely. You will be asked to fill out our online registration form. Once your registration has been accepted, you will receive an email with an assigned Library ID and a temporary password. It is important to keep this email as you will need your assigned Library ID number to login. The LibraryID cannot be changed. You should change your temporary password by clicking on the My account/Personal Settings. To verify your registration, we require that you present a valid driver’s license, state identification card, or passport, even if you have registered with us previously. You will need to do this once per year. Please note that we do not enter or retain ID numbers in our database; they are for verification only.
What is not changing?
All SCUA materials are non-circulating and may be used only in the Paulson Reading Room.
