Welcome from the Dean of Libraries and Philip H. Knight Chair
On behalf of the University of Oregon Libraries, I’d like to extend a warm welcome to UO students, faculty members, staff, and community members. We in the Libraries are here to provide you with outstanding resources, programs, and services to support your academic and personal goals.
We are committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive environment for all members of our diverse community. With five locations on the Eugene campus, and branches at UO Portland and the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology, the UO Libraries offers many flexible, collaborative, and well-equipped environments for your research, teaching, and learning needs. Our wide range of services and programs include research consultations with librarians, digital scholarship and educational technology support, and interlibrary loan services, to name only a few.
A signature program in the Libraries is our collaborative instruction program; we work closely with UO faculty to teach students how to identify, evaluate, and use information resources ethically and effectively. Our new Price Science Commons and Research Library offers a cutting-edge MakerSpace facility and a Visualization Lab for students and instructors. Our Digital Scholarship Center (DSC) supports faculty members and graduate students in the transformation of research and teaching using new media and digital technologies. Through our Center for Media and Educational Technology (CMET), we provide academic technology for the University, including the Canvas learning management system, instructional technology, classroom technology, and content production capabilities.
The UO Libraries’ collections contain millions of scholarly resources covering the University’s disciplines and research areas. Our Special Collections and University Archives holds distinctive, fascinating objects ranging from medieval codices and rare books, to literary and historical manuscripts, original art, photographs, and architectural drawings.
As you become familiar with the UO Libraries, please let us know if you have ideas about how we might better support you and your research, learning, and teaching needs, by writing to us at email@example.com or by contacting your designated subject liaison librarian. Best wishes for a successful and fulfilling year at the University of Oregon!
