Free Lecture Explores Mozart’s Genius

Tuesday, April 29, 7 p.m.

A free public lecture exploring the nature of Mozart’s originality will be offered in Knight Library’s Browsing Room at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2014. Was Mozart simply a wildly inventive genius, or was he also a true product of his time who “spoke” the musical language he inherited from predecessors and contemporaries?

The free lecture will offer a preview of a topic to be covered in depth in a UO Insight Seminar entitled “How Original Was Mozart?” The seminar begins Wednesday, May 7, from 5:30-8:00 p.m., and runs for three consecutive Wednesdays following. The registration fee for the noncredit, ungraded seminar is $99. Learn more and register online at
