An exhibit showcasing notable athlete Jim Thorpe (1888-1953) is on display in the cases located across from the Checkout/Information desk at the entrance of the Knight Library. The exhibit is entitled “The Greatest Athlete in History”. It was created to celebrate November as Native American Heritage Month 2012.

He grew up in the Sac and Fox nation in Oklahoma and became known as one of the most versatile athletes in the history of sports, excelling in football, baseball, basketball, and track and field. The Knight Library’s exhibit includes pictures, biographical notes, sports cards and memorabilia, and other artifacts
The exhibit was created by UO Exhibit Services Technician Cristian Boboia. It will be on display through December 2012.
