Open Library Pool
The UO Libraries are building a pool of qualified applicants for possible temporary, short-term appointments. Positions will be of a limited duration, not to exceed one year, but with the possibility of renewal for up to a total of three years depending on need, funding and performance. Assignments vary in location and function, depending on need, and may include but are not limited to: reference service in the Knight Library or branch libraries, delivering instructional sessions, technical processing, collections management, special collections and archives, and digital library development projects.
Currently, we are seeking applications for a 2013-2014 academic year assignment for Digital Scholarship Coordinator for Arabic Manuscripts. Qualifications Required :
- Master’s degree in Arabic;
- fluent oral and written communication in Arabic;
- cataloging and/or metadata experience;
- familiarity with digital collections;
- and database development and management experience.
Application Deadline for Digital Scholarship Coordinator for Arabic Manuscripts is April 3, 2013.
Qualifications Required for other Potential Positions:
- An ALA-accredited MLIS degree or foreign equivalent or professional experience and/or coursework in specific areas of library service relevant to the temporary need (e.g. reference, special collections and archives, metadata management, etc.).
Applications for these other positions will be accepted on a continuous basis and the pool will remain active through March 31, 2014. Screening of applications will take place as positions become available and continue until positions are filled.
The successful candidate for any position will support and enhance a diverse learning and working environment, and may be required to complete a criminal background check.
Salary commensurate with education and experience.
