Oregon Continuing Legal Education Materials Eligible for Credits

Note: The CLEs held by the University of Oregon Law Library are for the use of UO Law faculty only.

The University of Oregon Law Library's current holdings of audio CDs which are eligible for CLE credits are listed below. The loan period is 1 week. According to the Oregon State Bar Association, members must listen to the audio CD to earn credits; perusing print materials does not qualify. The general period for eligibility for CLE credits is 3 years from the original program date. However, topics with more frequent changes such as Child Abuse Reporting or tax CLEs may be subject to a shorter period.

The general rule is that active bar members are required to complete a minimum of 45 credit hours every three years, at least 5 of which must be in subjects related to ethics. One hour must be on the subject of either child abuse OR elder abuse. The elder abuse reporting credit requirement was effective January 1, 2015. For more specific information, see the Elder Abuse Reporting Requirement FAQ. In alternate reporting periods, at least 3 of the 45 credits must be in subjects related to access to justice.

You can find more specific information about earning Minimum Continuing Legal Education credits at the Oregon State Bar Association’s MCLE web page. Current (effective January 1, 2017) MCLE Rules and Regulations can be found here. Reporting forms may be found here.

Other sources for CLE materials are the Oregon State Bar CLE seminar website, Oregon State Bar Professional Liability Fund, Oregon Law Institute, Lane County Law Library, and Oregon Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. Contact those organizations directly for specific information.
