About this Project header

The Data for Local Communities project aims to gather in one place the highest quality web-based information about cities, counties, natural areas, and other regions in Washington and Oregon. This resource is intended to support the work and interests of the local governments, educators, students, business people, researchers, libraries and citizens of the Pacific Northwest.

Data for Local Communities is the successor to an earlier resource, Local Area Data for Oregon, which was a product of the University of Oregon Libraries' Document Center. The present project is created and maintained by librarians in the Orbis Cascade Alliance, and is based at the University of Oregon Libraries. Web page design and development is by the UO Libraries' Interactive Media Group (IMG). Programming support was provided by Terry Reese, OSU Libraries.

This project is supported in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Library Services and Technology Act, administered by the Oregon State Library. The Oregon Progress Board encouraged the
development of this resource.

We continue to add resources to the project, and welcome suggestions for additions. Please contact us if you have additional information sources to recommend.
