Come to a hands-on workshop for working with StoryMap JS (https://storymap.knightlab.com/). StoryMap JS is a simple tool for creating interactive maps and timelines. Using the StoryMap JS editor, you create slides with uploaded or linked media and tie them to points on a map. You can then embed your finished map/presentation into your website.

We’ll review what we learned in the first Excel workshop (05/04). From there we will learn basic skills necessary to work with data, and to get data into the structure necessary to analyze it using the tools from the first workshop, such as Vlookup and “If function.” Workshop participants will have an opportunity to learn a few key skills and to practice using them with hands-on examples. Data will be provided in the workshop so that we can practice what we’ve learned. (Location: Knight Library 267B)

Excel is one program that allows us to curate, store, and manage our data. The first workshop will introduce humanists to Excel basics. We will learn the grammar and logic of Excel and the power of Tableau—a tool that visualizes patterns in our data. We’ll begin by learning how to analyze existing data sets. (Knight Library 267B)
