Electronic Resources Management

Today information is available online, accessible from home or office. Collection Services staff manage the electronic resources, or e-resources, that the UO Libraries purchase, enabling access through the Libraries’ catalog. E-resource titles are requested by the Libraries’ subject specialists, who select resources that support the educational and research mission of the University of Oregon.
The management of e-resources requires:
- Working with vendors and publishers of e-resources
- Ordering new e-resources and renewing existing e-resource subscriptions
- Acquiring access information from e-resource vendors
- Loading e-resource records into the Libraries’ catalog
- Maintaining the records in the catalog
- Facilitating access to online trial databases that users can use and comment on
- Verifying access to e-resources and trouble-shooting problems
- Managing budgets relating to electronic resources
- Evaluating and implementing new technology and initiatives related to electronic resources
