Adding Engaging Embedded Materials to Canvas

Knight Library DREAM Lab
Friday, February 15, 2019
- 3:30pm

Light snacks will be provided.

Learner Interaction promotes engagement, cognitive presence and retention in online courses. While Canvas provides us with interactive tools like discussions, group work, and peer reviews, there are some activities that work better with tools external to Canvas.  What if you had a tool that allows students to collaboratively create an interactive map for geology, or create a mind map of a process in chemistry, or a better tool to learn vocabulary in Spanish? How might that contribute to their engagement and understanding of the content?

Join us on February 15th from 2:00 – 3:30 pm in Knight Library DREAM Lab, for an interactive, hands-on workshop!  Learn how to identify pedagogically sound, engaging, Canvas compatible, external tools. During the workshop participants will work in small groups and create an activity in a new tool, as well as embed and collaboratively explore them in a Canvas course.
