In recognition of exceptional, positive contributions to the UO community

UO Libraries is happy to announce that Helen Chu, associate dean of libraries and chief academic technology officer, has been named a winner of the 2018 OA Star Award.

Each year the OA Council and the Office of the President partner to recognize outstanding Officer of Administration peers across the institution. According to an OA council representative, those selected as honorees distinguish themselves by applying their professional efforts for the betterment of the entire institution and the university community. "They not only excel in their positions and departments, they also embody a spirit of collegiality and vision, working with peers and partners across departmental and divisional lines. They strive for continuous improvement and look to build relationships and solutions that improve the university for all stakeholders."

Helen's nominator called out her creativity in launching the Teaching Academy and Summer Teaching Institute, her commitment to the Committee for Academic Infrastructure, and her support of student success and pedagogy as reasons to recognize her with this award.
