The collection contains a bill of lading by Dispatch Line Co. for a goods shipped by S. Marks and company on the schooner Sparrow,  from San Francisco to Gardner City, Oregon. The bill of lading includes a detailed list of goods.

Newly Available Collection: Eastern Oregon steamship log

The commander of the Eastern Oregon steamship was S. E. Young, and in 1887 it began a voyage for the purpose of delivering the ship to its new owners, the Oregon Railroad and Navigation Co. The collection (February 12, 1887 – May 19, 1887) contains a log of that trip, and includes daily entries starting from Jersey City to San Francisco via the Strait of Magellen.

The Mary Cleveland was a shipping schooner that operated on the west coast of the United States. The collection (May 6, 1863) consists of a single bill of lading given to John S. Pasty of Roseburg for goods to be shipped to Scottsburg.

This album consists of 93 photographs relating to a trip “Buck” and “Averill” took to Alaska aboard the S.S. Baranof in 1950. Stops along the trip include the Saxman Totem Park in Saxman, Alaska; Ketchikan, Alaska; Juneau, Alaska; and Wrangell, Alaska. Collection also includes numerous photographs taken aboard the S.S. Baranof. The concentration of photographs is of the Saxman Totem Park and Wrangell.

W. Harry Hembree was a ship captain and master ship builder in Oregon. His family, and the Kellogg family, owned and built ships and created a freight transportation company in the Willamette Valley. The W. Harry Hembree Papers consist of the retelling of Hembree’s grandfather’s 1843 overland journey, a 1947 interview in which Hembree reminisces about his family and his life, and Hembree’s 1912 log of the Althea voyage from Portland, Oregon to Alaska.

Eleanor Wilson (1891-1972) was a Christian missionary who worked in Japan, Hawaii, and the Pacific in general, particularly the Marshall and Caroline Islands. In 1950, she became captain of the Morning Star VI, a mission ship in the Pacific. The collection consists mostly of correspondence describing her missionary work from 1925-1951; there are also a few miscellaneous items and photographs.
