Newly Available Collection: Fred Phillips testimony

Fred Phillips (1869-1964) of Baker City, Oregon, was in the cattle business for over forty years, and was a board member and president of the Baker [Production] Credit association. The collection consists of testimony Phillips gave regarding his work at the Baker Credit Association during the 1920s and 1930s, especially his work approving loans made by the Association.

Kenneth L. Holmes was a reverend, a McMinnville, Oregon newspaper editor, and a History professor at Linfield College. The collection (1952-1968) contains correspondence, including letters from Oregon politicians, and also a 33 1/2 rpm flexidisc recording of an interview with Wayne Morse regarding Vietnam.

The collection contains a photocopied letter dated April 28, 1865, by George Weston, Ft. Colville, Washington Territory, to Thomas Kern, Ft. Walla Walla, Washington Territory, Weston comments on the troubles of soldiering at Colville, refers to the arrival of news about the capture of Lee, and the death of Lincoln. The letter is very faint and hard to read.
