Newly Available Collection: Charles C. Lewis letter and photographs

Charles C. Lewis was a member of the Mazama climbing club. The collection consists of a letter by Lewis describing an expedition to set up heliographs atop Mt. Adams and Mt. Jefferson, as well as two matted photographs of Mt. Jefferson.

Newly Available Collection: Northern Pacific Coal Mining Company prospectus

The Northern Pacific Coal Mining Company of San Francisco set out to establish a mining claim between Coos Bay and the Coquille River, on the coast of Oregon.  The collection (March 25, 1873) consists of a prospectus for the mining claim that includes a chemist report and a map of the claim.

Newly Available Collection: A. C. Smith letter to James Slater

A. C. Smith (1831-1911) was a pioneer resident of the Grande Ronde Valley in Oregon. The collection consists of a photostat copy of a letter from Smith to James Slater, and an advertisement for the Union, Oregon newspaper, Mountain Sentinel.

The Mary Cleveland was a shipping schooner that operated on the west coast of the United States. The collection (May 6, 1863) consists of a single bill of lading given to John S. Pasty of Roseburg for goods to be shipped to Scottsburg.

Newly Available Collection: Willamette University warrants for service as teachers

Willamette University was founded on February 1, 1842, when a board of trustees was appointed and a constitution and bylaws were adopted for the school, which was then named the Oregon Institute. The collection consists of three warrants made out to teachers for services rendered to Willamette University, 1863-1864.
