Abstract
R. Nevan McCullough (1904-1982) was born near Mount Rainier in Washington State. The son of a Forest Service employee, McCullough served as District Ranger of the White River District of the Snoqualmie National Forest from 1928-1959, and was highly regarded for efficient fire safety and timber sales management. Following his retirement he led pack trains, built trails, and consulted on forestry. The collection consists of approximately 3,000 images of historical forestry, family, and McCullough's pack trips through the wilderness.

Biographical Sketch
R. Nevan McCullough (1904-1982) was born on a forest homestead three miles from Mount Rainier National Park in Washington State. His father, William A. McCullough was an Irish immigrant who gave up "stump farming" to work in the Forest Service, 1903-1922.
Nevan McCullough began working for the Forest Service in the early 1920s as a trail builder and fire guard. He was appointed District Ranger of the White River District of the Snoqualmie National Forest from 1928-1959. During his thrity-one years, McCullough developed a thorough knowledge of the history and geography of the White River, and was highly regarded in the Forest Service for efficient fire safety and timber sales management. During his term of service, McCullough saw sweeping changes in Forest Service implementation of "multiple use" policies, and foresaw the development of a struggle Following his retirement he led pack trains, built trails, and consulted on forestry. The collection consists of approximately 3,000 images of historical forestry, family, and McCullough's pack trips through the wilderness.
