Collection Overviews

Special Collections and University Archives holds over 3,000 collections; more than a million items ranging from medieval codices and rare books to literary and historical manuscripts, university archives, original art, photographs, film, architectural drawings, and ephemera.

The goal is to improve scholars' and students' access to the materials, which include the largest academic holding of medieval and renaissance manuscripts in the Pacific Northwest

Special Collections & University Archives holds more than 2,000 manuscript collections as well as architectural drawings and broadsides.

Special Collections & University Archives holds a collection of rare books, medieval manuscripts, early printed books, fine press imprints, modern first editions, paperback fiction, popular magazines and zines. The Oregon Collection titles reflect the history, literature, and life in Oregon and the Oregon Territory.

Special Collections & University Archives is the official repository of the University of Oregon's permanent historical records dating from 1872 to present, including administrative records, president's records, university publications, theses and dissertations, photographic prints and negatives, audio tapes, film, and memorabilia reflecting history and events connected to the history of the University.

Special Collections & University Archives holds approximately half a million photographic images in its collections, many of which are available on Oregon Digital. Our greatest strengths are images prior to the 1940s.

Special Collections & University Archives holds a variety of archival moving image collections in all formats and genres, including feature films, documentaries, educational films, home movies, television, and TV news. Our collections focus primarily on Oregon-related films and filmmakers.
