I get an error saying that I’m “missing a plug-in” when I try to open documents in Blackboard.

While using Blackboard, many students find that PDF type documents will not open correctly when they are using Safari or Firefox on Macs, and Blackboard will give them an error saying that a “plug-in” is missing. The solution is to download this plugin, and install it on your computer. The first time you use it to view a PDF in a browser window you will be asked to provide a license number, but if you select "educational use" then you will be allowed to use the software without paying a license fee.

missing a plug-in

This plugin will work with both Firefox and Safari, and it should allow you to open PDFs in Blackboard.

Additional information about this plugin (which works for both Safari and Firefox) can be found at http://www.schubert-it.com/pluginpdf/
