PSC Open Spaces

The Price Science Commons was designed with a variety of open spaces for study and group work.

Computers

There are groups of computers in three discrete areas of the library: a large computer lab at the far east side, near the service desk; pairs of computers along the west courtyard edge; and individual computers in adjoining carrels in the northwest corner near the classrooms.  Generally the lab is often active and noisy, and the area to the west of the courtyard is more likely to be quiet.

Quiet area

Room B018 is the designated quiet area.  It's the room all the way around the courtyard from the busy service desk area, and is behind a glass wall for additional sound insulation.  You should plan to silence devices and refrain from talking or other noisy activities in the quiet area.  It is not appropriate for most group work.

Open seating

We have tables with rolling chairs; soft chairs; couches; booths; benches; and cafe tables, as well as a small amount of exterior seating on both levels.  There are dozens of whiteboards throughout the library to facilitate individual or group work.

Group study rooms

We have six reservable group study rooms, and one room which is available for groups or for small videoconferencing.  These can be reserved here, and are available on a walk-in basis when they are not reserved.  The calendar for each day can be found on a tablet adjacent to the room's door.
