Each year through its Undergraduate Research Awards program, the UO Libraries recognizes UO undergraduates who produce high-quality research projects using the library's extensive resources and services. The amount of the awards typically ranges from $1,000 to $1,500.

Awards are given in two categories:

  • Papers and projects from a 300-level course or above and completed within a single term.
  • Theses or projects developed over more than a single term.

Whether you develop your project as a thesis, research paper, video project, or web presentation, you can submit it for consideration. Team projects are also eligible for an award. All submissions must be accompanied by an essay on how you used library resources or services in your research. The deadline for submitting entries for papers, projects, or theses completed during winter, spring, summer, or fall 2014 is January 23, 2015.

For complete information on eligibility, evaluation criteria, and applications materials, visit library.uoregon.edu/general/libaward.html.

Previous winners are profiled here. Winning projects are also deposited in Scholars' Bank here. Scholars' Bank is the UO's online repository of the intellectual output of the university's faculty, students, and staff.

The Undergraduate Research Awards are made possible through the generous support of Jon and Lisa Stine, the Milton C. and Barbara B. Sparks Endowment, and Walter and Gretchen Barger.
