Undergraduate Research Award Entries Due May 16 for Projects Completed in Winter Term 2014
Each year through its Undergraduate Research Awards program, the UO Libraries recognizes UO undergraduates who produce high-quality research projects using the library's extensive resources and services. The amount of the awards typically ranges from $1,000 to $1,500.
Whether you develop your project as a thesis, research paper, video project, or web presentation, you can submit it for consideration. Team projects are also eligible for an award. All submissions must be accompanied by an essay on how you used library resources or services in your research.
Submissions for upcoming awards have separate deadlines for each term. The deadline for papers written during winter term 2014 is May 16, 2014.
Winners are selected from two categories of competition:
1. Papers or projects completed during a single course at the 300 level or above. For the coming year's awards, entries for papers and projects completed during a course offered in winter term 2014 must be submitted by 5 p.m. on May 16 to be eligible. You must obtain a signed recommendation form and support letter from your course instructor.
2. A thesis or project developed over more than a single term. For the coming year's awards, entries for theses completed during winter term 2014 must be submitted by 5 p.m. on May 16 to be eligible. You must obtain a signed recommendation form and support letter from your course instructor(s).
You can read about some of the previous winners for here. Winning projects are also deposited in Scholars' Bank here. Scholars' Bank is the UO's online repository of the intellectual output of the university's faculty, students, and staff.

Winners of the coming year's Undergraduate Research Awards will be selected from all entries submitted for winter, spring, summer, and fall 2014. The deadline for submissions for each term is approximately 4 weeks after the term ends (the deadline for winter 2014 has been extended). Specific deadlines for each term will be posted in advance.
The 2014 Undergraduate Research Awards are made possible through the generous support of Jon and Lisa Stine, the Milton C. and Barbara B. Sparks Endowment, and Walter and Gretchen Barger.
