Knight Library Hosting Lecture on Communication and Folklore May 14

On Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at 4:00 pm, the UO Libraries will cosponsor a free public lecture by Robert Glenn Howard, professor of communication arts and director of the Folklore Program at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, The talk, entitled "Back to the Newly-Digital Networked Normal," will survey new communication methods and new media in the digital age. Howard will explore the possibilities and limits of empowerment through everyday expression in network communication technologies by focusing on the intersection of individual agency and participatory performance.  Howard's research combines rhetorical theory and critical cultural theories, as well as theories of performance and performativity with network graphing methods.
