Color: A Magic Power in AAA Library

This plate explores how changes of quantity in color can change appearance and influence color. Here, four colors are presented in four different arrangements. An exhibit on display in the Architecture and Allied Arts Library entitled Color: A Magic Power shows the ways colors interact with each other; for example, bricks surrounded by white concrete appear brighter than bricks surrounded by a darker concrete.

The plates on display through spring term 2013 are from the classic work Interaction of Color, by Josef Albers, first published in 1963 by Yale University Press. The original volume is housed in the Secure Collection of the Architecture & Allied Arts Library.
