UO Russian Theater Presenting Balaganchik March 9

The Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies (REEES) program will present productions of Balaganchik, or "The Puppet Show," on Saturday, March 9, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 10, at 2:30 p.m. in Room 123 of the Global Scholars Hall, 1710 E. 15th Ave, Eugene. The performances are free and open to the public, and seating is first come, first served.

This bilingual adaptation of Aleksandr Blok's 1906 Symbolist play includes mystics expecting the end of the world; the comic love triangle of Pierro, Harlequin, and Colombina; the Dancing Dolls; three Symbolist love stories demystified by a 21st-century shrink; a masquerade ball ending in a global revolution; the Devil; the Shrink; and more."

The performances are a collaboration among REEES, the UO's College of Arts and Sciences, UO Libraries, Student Housing, Theater Arts, and Department of Art.
