Alan Turing Exhibit Opens in Knight Library

An exhibit showcasing the accomplishments of Alan Turing is on display in the cases located at the east and west entryway corridors in the Knight Library. The exhibit, which will run through April 2013, is entitled “Alan Turing- the Founder of Computer Science.”

The exhibit highlights Turing’s work successfully breaking Nazi Enigma codes during World War II, as well as his work developing mathematical models in biology in the area of morphogenesis at Manchester University. The exhibit includes photos of Turing, machines he worked with, and the shelter he worked in during WWII.

The exhibit was curated by Science Librarian Dean Walton.

A sculpture of Alan Turing was added on to Deschutes Hall in 1989, see it here.

This spring the University Theater will be performing "Breaking the Code," a biographical drama about Alan Turing. For more information click here.
