UO Libraries Digital Collections Includes Image Archive of UO Athletics
As the successful University of Oregon Volleyball team heads to the NCAA Finals on Saturday, the UO community can access images of the current volleyball team and past teams (and all other sports teams as well) as part of the UO Libraries Digital Collections. The UO Athletics digital collection is here. Images of the current volleyball team can be accessed by entering "volleyball 2012" in the search field.
Paul W. Harvey IV, a cataloger and metadata technician at the UO Libraries, photographs various events and sports teams for archival and documentary purposes. These images are included in the UO Athletics collection as part of University Archives, which is a collection of documents, photographs, physical objects, and audiovisual materials. These materials "tell the story of athletics at the University of Oregon. More than just statistics of accomplishments, this is the story of people and events that changed athletics at the University of Oregon over the past 110 years. It is also the story of athletics in higher education: the relationship and the issues involved between athletics and the academy over time."
