Recent Facilities Enhancements at the UO Libraries

Fall term is underway and students, faculty, and staff are enjoying enhancements that were made to the UO Libraries over the summer.

Some of the most notable facility updates and improvements were new furniture in the Law Library, lighting improvements and a new KIC scanner in the AAA Library, and additional electrical outlets and a KIC scanner in the Science Library.

At the Knight Library, carpet was added to the second floor and selected portions of the first floor. Over 80 new chairs were purchased for individual and group study rooms on the third floor, and energy efficient light bulbs were installed throughout the library. Additional electrical outlets were installed in certain areas to accommodate device charging needs. In order to secure private belongings, the UO Libraries also completed the installation of 63 lockers. Prior to the beginning of fall term, the UO Libraries also opened a new facility, the Global Scholars Hall Library Commons.

These facility enhancements aim to enhance the atmosphere and functionality of the UO Libraries. The mission of the UO Libraries is to enrich the student learning experience, and responding to student needs is a critical part of achieving this mission.
