Each year, through its Undergraduate Research Awards program, the library recognizes UO undergraduates who produce high-quality research projects using the library's extensive resources and services.Whether you develop your project as a thesis, research paper, video project, or web presentation, you can submit it for consideration. Team projects are also eligible for an award.
Winners are selected from two categories of competition:
1. Papers or projects completed during a single course at the 300 level or above. These entries must have been completed during a course offered in winter, spring, summer, or fall term, 2012. You must obtain a signed nomination form and support letter from your course instructor.
2. A thesis or project developed over more than a single term. Entries in this category must have been completed by the end of fall term, 2012. You must obtain a signed nomination form and support letter from your course instructor(s) and department chair or dean.
The deadline for submitting all application materials for the 2012-13 awards is February 4, 2013.
The number of awards and prize amounts vary from year to year. In 2011-12, five awards were given. You can read about last year's winners here. Winning projects are also deposited in Scholars' Bank here. Scholars' Bank is the UO's online repository of the intellectual output of the university's faculty, students, and staff.
For more information on eligibility, evaluation criteria, and applications materials, ask a librarian or visit library.uoregon.edu/general/libaward.html.
The 2012-2013 Undergraduate Research Awards are made possible through the generous support of Jon and Lisa Stine, the Milton C. and Barbara B. Sparks Endowment, and Walter and Gretchen Barger.
