Each year through its Undergraduate Research Awards program, the UO Libraries recognizes UO undergraduates who complete outstanding research projects using library resources and services. Winning papers and projects can earn students up to $1,500 in prize money.
Philip Van Doren Stern (1900-1984) worked for years on a short story called “The Greatest Gift,” about the suicidal George Pratt, who is redeemed after learning important lessons about the value of life. But Stern couldn’t find a publisher for his tale, so he self-published it in 1943 and sent it to 200 friends as a Christmas card in pamphlet form.

As the successful University of Oregon Volleyball team heads to the NCAA Finals on Saturday, the UO community can access images of the current volleyball team and past teams (and all other sports teams as well) as part of the UO Libraries Digital Collections.

Community Conversations, produced by UO Housing and cosponsored by the UO Libraries, is the flagship living-learning series within the residential curriculum of University Housing. The series offers a unique forum for exploring a diversity of academic, political, and popular culture topics.

The University of Oregon’s Information Services and UO Libraries are launching a three-month, collaborative tour of campus this week, aimed at gauging university-wide thoughts and concerns about technology issues.
A new Digital Scholarship Center (DSC) at the UO Libraries will assist researchers who need to explore and use technology for analysis, expression, and distribution of their work.
Rachelle "Riki" Saltzman, who became executive director of the UO-administered Oregon Folklife Network in July, has been awarded the Wayland D. Hand Prize from the American Folklore Society for the best book combining historical and folkloristic methods and materials.
Rick Lugg of Sustainable Collection Services will present a live streamed workshop called “Rethinking Library Resources” on Wednesday, December 5, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at http://live.oregonstate.edu/workshop. The workshop may be viewed from any networked computer.
As part of the UO Libraries’ Insight Seminar programming, UO art history professor Jamie Harper will speak on the connections between two great Renaissance artists in a free lecture on Monday, December 3, at 7 p.m. in Knight Library’s Browsing Room.
