There’ll be a delectable selection of books on display in Knight Library’s Browsing Room on April 1, 2013, when the University of Oregon Libraries hosts an Edible Book Festival from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Everyone is invited to enter their bookish creations by bringing them to the Browsing Room for set-up at 10:30 a.m. The rules are simple: Entries should be made from consumable components and reflect the concept of “the book” through the use of text, form, or literary inspiration.
Entries will be judged in the following categories:
On Tuesday, April 16, Richard Katz, author and editor of seven books and more than 80 articles and monographs on management and technology topics, will present a talk entitled "Higher Education at the Inflection Point: Toward edu@2025" in Knight Library's Browsing Room at 3 p.m. The talk is part of the Philip H. Knight Dean of Libraries Distinguished Speaker Series and is free and open to the public.

On Wednesday, April 3, and Thursday, April 4, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the UO Libraries will host a Discover Music Sale and Music Services Intro in Knight Library’s Browsing Room, 1501 Kincaid Street, on the UO campus.
The Science Library will remain open a couple of extra hours each evening Tuesday-Thursday, March 12-14, during Dead Week and Sunday-Thursday, March 17-21, during Finals Week to provide space for those needing extra time to complete coursework and study.
John Wilkin is well known in research university circles and is often quoted in the Chronicle of Higher Education. He will visit the UO campus on April 1 to give a talk entitled “Crowdsourcing the Public Domain.”
Bill Sullivan, Oregon's hiking guru, will present an entertaining, informative slide show entitled "DB Cooper and the Exploding Whale: Folk Heroes of the Northwest" on Wednesday, March 13, at 7 p.m. in Knight Library's Browsing Room.

On Monday, April 29, Leah Middlebrook, professor of comparative literature at the UO, will offer a free lecture entitled "Sonnetization: The Fateful Encounter of Argument and Song Launches the Poem of Western Modernity." The lecture runs from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Knight Library's Browsing Room. Professor Middlebrook will explore the thirteenth-century origins of the sonnet form, highlighting the flexibility, durability, and perennial modernity of this form of poem.
