"Carl Heilborn: Designs for Film" on Display in A&AA Library

Original watercolors for movie sets by Carl Heilborn are on exhibit in the University of Oregon’s Architecture & Allied Arts Library until fall term 2014. From 1935 to 1950, Heilborn, who studied art and architecture at the University of Oregon, worked as a set designer for Universal Studios and 20th Century Fox.  The exhibit features Heilborn's designs for the films In Old Chicago, White Hunter, and One Way Street.  These works are in the collections of the Architecture and Allied Arts Library.

Aerial Photography Exhibit in Knight Library Offers Bird’s-Eye View of Northwest Locations

An exhibit entitled “Oregon Aerial Photography” is now on display in Knight Library. Curated by Nik Ligett, map and aerial photography technician at the UO Libraries, the exhibit showcases the Aerial Photograph Collection, one of gems in the library’s holdings, and provides dozens of examples of how aerial photography serves as a critical resource for researchers and others in science, business, environmental studies, and many other disciplines.

Jennifer O’Neal, Corrigan Solari University Historian and Archivist at the University of Oregon Libraries, has been named a recipient of the Society of American Archivists’ (SAA) 2014 Diversity Award. The SAA is North America’s oldest and largest national archival professional association.

O’Neal was recognized for her contributions for activities promoting diversity, particularly in relation to American Indian and other indigenous groups both at the University of Oregon and at the SAA.

Deborah Carver is closing the book on her outstanding career after more than 23 years at the University of Oregon Libraries. Carver, the Philip H. Knight Dean of Libraries, retired at the end of April.

At her retirement celebration on April 21, representatives from across campus, including Provost Scott Coltrane, former Provost Lorraine Davis and members of the UO Libraries faculty, honored Carver’s service and wished her the best in her future endeavors.

This fall, you can learn about the future impact of 3-D printing in your field while carrying out your own 3-D printing project in a course offered by Science Librarian Dean Walton.

Entitled “Make!—Research and 3-D Object,” the 1-credit, P/NP course will allow you to explore, research, design, and fuse as you learn to print in 3-D.
