Cinema Studies Film Series screenings scheduled for spring

Each term throughout the year, the UO's Cinema Studies Program creates original programming to connect students with industry professionals and media scholars. Key programs scheduled for spring 2013 include the FILM on FILM Series, Remakes, and Cinematheque's film series.

Libraries’ Runquist Murals Get Fresh Look

Two sprawling murals that have been with UO Libraries since its opening in 1937 are getting a second look.

The Digital Scholarship Center and UO Libraries have launched an art project on murals by Oregon artists Albert and Arthur Runquist that depict figures and ideas about race and ethnicity that some may no longer find acceptable.

No Foolin’—UO Libraries Hosts Edible Book Festival April 1

There’ll be a delectable selection of books on display in Knight Library’s Browsing Room on April 1, 2013, when the University of Oregon Libraries hosts an Edible Book Festival from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Everyone is invited to enter their bookish creations by bringing them to the Browsing Room for set-up at 10:30 a.m. The rules are simple: Entries should be made from consumable components and reflect the concept of “the book” through the use of text, form, or literary inspiration.

Entries will be judged in the following categories:

Richard Katz to Look at Future of Higher Ed in April 16 Library Dean's Lecture

On Tuesday, April 16, Richard Katz, author and editor of seven books and more than 80 articles and monographs on management and technology topics, will present a talk entitled "Higher Education at the Inflection Point: Toward edu@2025" in Knight Library's Browsing Room at 3 p.m. The talk is part of the Philip H. Knight Dean of Libraries Distinguished Speaker Series and is free and open to the public.
