Knight Library Hosting Lecture on Communication and Folklore May 14

On Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at 4:00 pm, the UO Libraries will cosponsor a free public lecture by Robert Glenn Howard, professor of communication arts and director of the Folklore Program at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, The talk, entitled "Back to the Newly-Digital Networked Normal," will survey new communication methods and new media in the digital age.

Exhibit, "Russia Inside Out: Voices and Faces" in Knight Library

An exhibit titled “Russia Inside Out: Voices and Faces” is on display in front of the Knight Library Browsing Room.

The exhibit features books about the Russian language, as well as a cookbook “accordion” with various ethnic dishes that were popularized and discovered via the Russian language in the former Soviet Union.

A special map indicates the diversity of ethnicities in 21st-century Russia, where many ethnic peoples had settled long before the Slavs. Images of national costumes are featured for some of the representatives from 185 ethnic groups living in Russia.

An exhibit highlighting the history of film culture at the University of Oregon is on display in the cases located in the east and west entryway corridors of Knight Library. The exhibit, which will run through August 2013, is entitled Kin-O: A History of Movie Culture on Campus.
